Primary Academy Takes the Crown in Annual Primary Maths Challenge
Folkestone Academy held their ninth Primary Schools Maths Challenge in January welcoming a record number of 14 schools from across Shepway. The all-day event included a variety of Maths activities including code breaking, number crosswords, speed test, logic puzzle and a relay quiz to finish.
For a second year a new primary school took the crown as winners of the competition. Folkestone Primary Academy beat 13 other primary schools which included: St Martin’s CofE Primary, The Churchill School, Castle Hill Community Primary, Lyminge CofE Primary, All Souls’ CofE Primary, Capel-le-Ferne Primary, Christ Church CofE Academy, Hythe Bay CofE Primary, Morehall Academy, Seabrook CofE Primary, Sandgate Primary, St Augustine’s Catholic Primary and St Eanswythe’s CofE Primary.
The event was organised by Mr Joseph Pape, Maths Teachers at the Academy. Mr Pape comments: Once again this was a fantastic event with so many young people joining together to share their enthusiasm and love of Maths. I was very impressed with the calibre of pupils, it was a very close competition throughout the day! Thank you to all the schools who joined us and well done to Folkestone Primary Academy.”
All pupils went away with a goody bag and certificate.
