Folkestone Academy pupils take up the Ancient Egyptian lifestyle!

News : 20 June 2019

This week, Year 4 pupils at Folkestone Academy had the opportunity to live the life of an Ancient Egyptian! Through a workshop organised by the Living History organisation, our pupils got to experience a range of hands on and practical activities, and even dressed up to make sure they looked the part.

We had a series of different stations set up so our young people could have a go at weaving, playing Ancient Egyptian games, practice their hieroglyphics, try their hand at crafts and even learn the basics of mummification! We also learned more about the culture of the Egyptians, including the origins of the Pharaohs and how they became so important to Egyptian society.

The children all had an amazing time in the workshop, and more importantly we know that this will really help their learning and understanding of the Ancient Egyptian culture. We’ve got a host of different activities planned off the back of this, and we’re excited to see how much our pupils have learned.
