Local Governing Bodies

At least three Trust-appointed advisors, known as Governors, plus up to two elected parent governors

Responsibilities:

  • To support the vision of the Trust
  • To govern admissions/exclusions/complaints
  • To monitor local standards
  • To act as critical friend to the Principal or Executive Principal
  • To represent the view of and engage with the local community
  • To advise upon and review the annual budgets
  • To review the school’s financial performance against budget, upholding the Trust’s Principles
  • To support appraisal/dismissal of Academy staff excluding Principal/Executive 
Principal if appropriate
  • To oversee safeguarding procedures at local level
  • To review local policy
  • To serve on sub-committees as required

Reporting:

Reports to board of Trustees through approved minutes, or via Trust Directors with membership of both bodies

Governed by:

Meetings:

Three times per year minimum
