March 2016

Turner Schools was founded by Dr Jo Saxton (CEO) and Professor Carl Lygo (Chair) to improve the education and life chances of children in East Kent.

January 2017

Turner Schools took over the running of Martello Primary and Morehall Primary in Folkestone.

April 2017

DfE approved TS Bid for a new Free School in Folkestone, Turner Free School on the former Pent Valley site. This is provisionally set to open in September 2018.

Partnership formed with Folkestone Academy, Folkestone School for Girls and The King’s School, Canterbury.

Dr Jo Saxton appointed CEO, and Professor Carl Lygo as Chair of Folkestone Academy.

July 2017

100% of home-grown pupils at Martello Primary pass Phonics Screening Check, and at Morehall Primary results improve at Key Stage 2 by 18 percentage points.

December 2017

Folkestone Academy joins Turner Schools Family, in partnership with The King’s School Canterbury. Lesley Farmer appointed Chair of Governors (Interim) of Folkestone Academy.
